  1. Rebel Stand is the exciting second book in Aaron Allston s Enemy Lines duology, and it is as action packed as the first book, Rebel Dream.Without giving too many spoilers away, the good guys win in this one For the most part. The Yuuzhan Vong has successfully taken Coruscant and begun their violent terra forming Millions of survivors, however, are still stuck on the planet s surface without any chance of escape, so Master Jedi Luke Skywalker, his wife Mara Jade, young Jedi Knight Tahiri, and a sm [...]

  2. As a whole, the Duology that is Enemy Lines I II acts a pivot point in the narrative of Star Wars The New Jedi Order Considering the steps that Aaron Allston took in Enemy Lines I Rebel Dream to give the reader the indication that hope was still to be found, Rebel Stand does not fail to deliver an intriguing story.Following the mold of the first book in the Duology, Rebel Stand sticks very close to some of the less Force Sensitive Characters while still allowing the Jedi who are present in the s [...]

  3. I don t want to discourage your curiosity, but I have to remind you, if something goes wrong, this is an exceptionally embarassing way to die When we last checked into our favorite galaxy far, far away under fire from an alien invasion force, Luke and Mara were on Coruscant for a recon mission and Borleias was hunkering down for war In Rebel Stand, Luke and Mara find someone on Coruscant who is even scary than the Yuuzhan Vong and Jaina the Trickster Goddess helps secure a great big victory for [...]

  4. This second book in the Enemy Lines mini arc was better than the first It had action, was straightforward than its predecessor, and was even funny at times Without trying to spoil the ending, I really enjoyed the final sequence when the Yuuzhan Vong make their last ditch effort to take Borleias, and Wedge Antilles and his small but determined band of soldiers pilots fight back I also started to really get a sense for Warmasters Tzulkang Lah and his son, Tsavong Lah Both could be considered gre [...]

  5. Another excellent legends book non cannon I gave up on the new Jedi order and the legends books as a whole when Disney first announced their non canonical status, but recently in my lack of available Star Wars books to read I ve decided to give it another shot This is the second book I ve read since delving back in and I have to say it was a great decision So far most of the cannon novels have been average for me except Lost Stars and Thrawn, and some of it has been downright bad on occasion The [...]

  6. AWESOME BOOK Just awesome Definitely one of the best books in the New Jedi Order series so far This book covers some of the best plots in the NJO series, and is simply extremely well written I particularly liked Jaina s portrayal, Wedge s battle plans and the battles in general, Czulkang Lah, and the phenomenal ending, both the emotional and majestic parts. All in all, a definite read Also apart from all of these factors, this book sets up the stage and background for something that is probably v [...]

  7. I enjoyed the battle scenes and fun tactics employed by Wedge here in the defense of Borleias, as well as the growing friendship between Kyp, Jaina and Jag And I even enjoyed the Lord Nyax arc However, I didn t see the point of the latter within the context of this book Just an interesting side story that they felt they must throw into one of the books, I guess.

  8. This was a great improvement over Dark Journey The action was almost nonstop, with Luke, Mara and Tahiri traveling to Coruscant Han and Leia engaged in surreptitious missions to distant systems and Jaina continuing her role as the trickster goddess in the conflict surrounding Borleias.

  9. Czulkang Lah is a force to be reckoned with, so why did Allston have to have the Lusankya ram his worldship Hmmmm.

  10. Masterpiece As I read this expertly executed adventure in space, on planet and underground, I couldn t help but ponder the author, no longer alive to appreciate my excitement of his novel, the six literary Star Wars journeys he s given me so far, and the many sitting on my shelf waiting their turn in my queue of the Star Wars expanded, now Legends, universe Certainly Allston s legacy will only grow legendary with each installation I will read in turn, but it is hard to imagine how he s going t [...]

  11. Allston does a great job of bringing back fun to the New Jedi Order series Where Troy Denning s Star By Star brought immense gravity, scope, and emotion to NJO, Allston s entries are a fun romp with some great military tactics, humor, and Wedge Antilles It s somewhat at the expense of emotion and character development, but we ve got action packed fun that makes up for it.Rebel Stand s major flaw is far too many characters We don t get to see them develop and grow They re not two dimensional by a [...]

  12. The Dramatis Personae gives info than in the previous book, and people One of these is Tam, letting us know that he survived the former events.I like Luke and Mara on Coruscant It s about time that we see how those on planet dealt with the Yuuzhan Vongd how Luke determines to best go against them With that, I adore the Wraiths, and that Danni and Tahiri were on planet with the Skywalkers I feel bad because Luke understands the pain and guilt of sending youth to their deaths and yet, some of th [...]

  13. Rebel Stand, the second volume in Aaron Allston s Enemy Lines duology finds the author in a very familiar setting, namely alternating storylines featuring both starfighter battles and covert action teams Both of which should come as no surprise to fans of Allston s previous work on the X Wing Wraith Squadron series. In Rebel Stand we finally get a chance to see what has become of Coruscant since the Yuuzhan Vong s takeover of the planet The former capitol of the New Republic is now a toxic, post [...]

  14. I was quite excited by the first entry in this duology, Rebel Dream I liked the insurgent plotline, Luke and Mara leading a resistance cell to Coruscant, etc I liked the defense of Borleias.I was slightly less impressed with Rebel Stand.I was expecting Luke and Mara to meet survivors, invite a group of spies into Coruscant Instead, that didn t happen Overall, a decent read, especially saved by the ending battle sequence between the Borleias defenders and the Yuuzhan Vong SPOILERS BELOW Using it [...]

  15. This book is classic Star Wars Allston s second NJO book definitely does not dissappoint and is an excellent continuation of what he started in Rebel Dream This book ties off a couple of loose ends, creates a few , and has the combat action that s been missing for some time Without giving away too much, I will say that Kyp is becoming a very likeable character and I hope the future NJO authors continue to develop his story Tahiri becomes slightly complex in this book, and it s a great character [...]

  16. My actual rating is 2.5 stars. This is the second book of a duology and part of a bigger series The previous books must be read before this one In this one, our heroes are in place to strike back at the Vong Up to this point the Vong has been winning the war and hopefully this is where the tide turns.I love how the author handles the characters and their dialogue He includes our beloved characters from the movies and he also utilizes characters from other novels I had no problem picturing any of [...]

  17. Rebel Stand by Aaron AllstonEnemy Lines 2Star Wars The New Jedi Order 12In this book of The New Jedi Order series, the mission to stop the Yuuzhan Vong s attempt to overthrow the New Republic was barely successful Meanwhile Han and Leia are stuck on a backwater planet about to give up the Jedi there to the Yuuzhan Vong Thankfully, Luke and his Jedi allies have discovered something important about the Vong but before they can use it to advantage they are found out and now battle large hordes of t [...]

  18. Rebel Stand was the second book that I read by Allston second to Rebel Dream I have to admit, I was a little taken aback by his writing style because it seems light and relaxed than other authors, and I wasn t really expecting it Some authors in particular who shall remain nameless James Luceno is long winded, isn t he seem to get a little stuffy with their explanations and when they try to add detail, they just go on and on and on and on Allston doesn t do that Instead, he gives you a basic fr [...]

  19. One of, if not the best, duology of The New Jedi Order NJO series The NJO is known for it s heavy plot and ambitious storyline previously unseen in the Star Wars universe The seriousness of the storyline with several main character deaths sometimes felt oppressive as a reader, but then The Enemy Lines duology and Aaron Allston arrives injecting humor and levity than any of the other NJO authors had Some may be familiar with Mr Allston s Wraith squadron from the X Wing novels they re back in ful [...]

  20. Definitely the best and most interesting duology in the New Jedi Order series so far I won t say the best book, since Balance Point still tops them all I think there s just SO MUCH going on, so many twists, so many clever surprises whether you re a fan of the military, the politics or the Jedi side of business, there s a bit of everything in Rebel Dream and Rebel Stand and the perspective shifts to keep you continually engaged, from the psychological warfare of Jaina s Trickster antics to the te [...]

  22. This book brings me back to what this series was like in the early days Fighting against a terrible foe and with BIG battles on all fronts The emotion and character development is still there and there are also some good tie ins with what has happened previously. The good Well paced, characterisation that makes sense, epic battles handled well. The bad Some was a little too spectacular, and too neat, left hanging on a few issues This and the book before also by Aaron Allston really need to be read [...]

  23. It s been a while since I last waded in the Star Wars universe and I figured it was about time to finally finish reading the New Jedi Order series This book was an interesting read which had some bizarre elements Lord Nyax , some dead and tired ones the Wraiths but some good bits too Luke, Mara and Wedge Still, it was an enjoyable read and Allston has certainly evolved in terms of his skills as a Star Wars writer So for the most part I enjoyed this adventure although it s really a 3.5.

  24. The new Jedi order completely outpaces anything in the Starwars genre This series was Dark, exciting, fast paced, and inspired The writing was fantastic and the level of philosophy and force history was unparalleled If your a fan at any level of the Starwars Universe than this series is a must read It is on my top 5 of all time for a series and I treasured every moment I spent in that time But beware, this isn t your typical Starwars book, be ready for a level of intensity that you ve never seen [...]

  25. Just as I enjoyed Rebel Dream, Rebel Stand is one of the bright points for me in NJO Allston puts together another fun narrative while maintaining the seriousness and gravity of the series as a whole The time spent on Coruscant especially drives home this point The Lord Nyax story line was riveting One night it kept me reading for hours past what I wanted to because I refused to put the book down before it was resolved Again, this book has rejuvenated my enthusiasm for NJO and I can t wait to re [...]

  26. A continuation of the previous, the book works from the assumption that the reader is now hoping as well and crashes the primaries into unfortunate circumstances Considering Anakin s death and how badly Jacen is being treated, there is the thought that some of the old guard might die even if they win I enjoyed the portrayal of Jagged here Not Force sensitive but tremendously talented and a rock for Jaina.

  27. The first of these two was just a touch better, but this one was fan as well One really fun chapter was dedicated to our favorite droids as they attempt a rescue of Han and Leia Not to thrilled with the Luke and Mara arc on Coruscant, but it was still fun Oh, and Viqi finally gets whats coming to her Allston s writing style is smooth and humorous He made these characters fun to be around after a long period of darkness.

  28. More of the same fun from the previous volume It turns out that if you take a bunch of outside the box thinkers who are well accustomed to impossible scenarios and turn them loose with little to nothing to lose since, absent any action, their side is screwed anyway you get good results. If I have one complaint about this book it s that the whole business with Luke, Mara and Tahiri on Coruscant just feels like it doesn t quite fit in with the rest.

  29. My favorite two books of the New Jedi Order by far To be honest, most of the NJ is too dark and too grim for me, but these books bring a bit of lightness and hope The characters are actually effective at what they do and able to recover a bit from all of the setbacks they ve faced I really enjoyed what Allston did with the ensemble and enjoyed all of the plotlines.
