  3. I m a little conflicted about my review for this book I saw it in Galway before the author came for a reading and signing, and though I couldn t make it to the reading, I got a signed copy And signed copies are always better Also she is sixteen SIX TEEN.There is nothing I could have written at sixteen of my own creation that was like this She is only going to get better and better at writing, and that is going to be an interesting read itself Also, the premise of this book is uh maaaaaz ing I re [...]

  4. Rating 4.5 stars Check out my review over on my blog here Big thank you to the publisher, Gill Books, for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for a review I was so excited to read this book as the blurb sounded like something I would really enjoy, and Eilis is only 16 years old and is Irish like me I first heard about this book last October when I attended Dept Con Eilis was a speaker at one of the panels and I was so impressed by the eloquent way she spoke and so shocked that was just 16 [...]

  5. 3.5 5 An overall very good debut novel The quick pacing is interesting, sometimes a bit too quick as I think you could spare a few pages here and there before moving on to the next thing, but I m looking forward to seeing how it evolves in the next books The story was enjoyable, although the main attraction for me was the fascinating Quincy She was very well written, quite complex, and really captivating at times She overshadowed most of the secondary characters, but some of them Clarke for inst [...]

  6. I don t even know where to begin with this book It was AMAZING I mean it I loved everything about this from the characters to the plot, to the endingOMG THE ENDING Such an amazing story and it s hard to name anything I didn t like about it Everything was so perfectly phrased and written and I cheered Quincy on no matter what I was glued to this book and couldn t put it down When it ended, my insides just crumbled and I may aswell have just fallen through the earth It was PHENOMENAL There was a p [...]

  7. I first read Oasis after a family member bought it for me after seeing it featured on the Late Late Show, and may I just say, it s A MAZ ING.The prologue at the start was absolutely beautiful, and the characters were so relatable and real Eil s has a talent for writing, and I will definitely be buying her next book. But, I had one problem that most did.The middle sorta dragged out a bit I mean, it didn t drag out for too long, but it still dragged I felt myself getting bored, but not in the way s [...]

  8. Loved this book Eilis is an amazing writer I loved the plot and it kept my on the edge of my seat a good bit The only thing I would have liked is a little character information but I assume that will come in the second book which I can t wait to start now 5 stars from me which I truly think it deserves

  9. Yazar n kitab 13 ya nda kafas nda kaleme almaya ba lad n d n rsek ok iyi tasarlanm bir distopik bilim kurgu kitab Ara ara kli eye ka an basit rastlant lara d mesi okurken modumu d rm olsa da, genel olarak k sa ve s r kleyici b l mleriyle bir b t n olarak kitap g zel kinci kitab olan Genesis i merakla bekliyorum.

  10. Felt the same as every other YA Dystopian book, with an unoriginal story, I gave up half through It also contained many grammatical errors.

  11. 4.5 stars A little slow in places, the main character could be infuriating at times and the book was a little jumpy the story didn t flow but overall an enjoyable read This book seemed for a younger audience, the romance scenes were very very basic and a little forced hence ideal for a younger reader had the author used emotion she could easily break into the YA reader audience in easons it was in the section for 12 year olds even without the emotion it s an ok read for the YA dystopian lover [...]

  12. Eil s Barrett was 16 years old when Oasis was published earlier this year This is remarkable and a story in itself, and I was particularly struck by how Eil s held her own on a panel at Eason s inaugural YA convention last year Her debut novel here with an Irish publisher, Gill, is confident beyond belief.Quincy is established as a cold presence early on She is cold out of necessity, born of her surroundings and a need to look after yourself in the cruel Outer Sector, where working to supply the [...]

  13. First of all, I need to commend the author for having a book published at SIXTEEN I strongly support young authors, and the fact that she managed to get a book out so young is amazing My rating really has nothing to do with her age, because I assumed an older author wrote it until I glanced at the back and saw the author s profile The writing is certainly up to par, for what it s worth My problem lies with the book itself, and the story It s just too clich d for me, the characters are uninterest [...]

  14. I really enjoyed this book and raced through it very quickly as a result The world the author created is very solid and feels very real, and it is definitely very simple to slip right into the initially selfish mind of the narrator We are introduced to Quincy Emerson, who has lived in the Outer Sector since she was seven years old, but seems to have largely accepted her fate, until she is spurred to action by an event that leaves her with only one option.Oasis flowed very well, and had a nice fa [...]

  15. I received a copy of this book for free through First Reads. What do you say in a review when your head is still spinning Well, here goesI started reading with the thought that the author is only 16 in the back of my head, and preparing myself to go easy on the book HA It only took a few pages to realise that this young author can hold her head up amongst her elders the usual phrase is elders and betters , but it s a case of elders and equals here.Okay The story There s no long introduction befo [...]

  16. Breath TakingI loved this The way Eilis writes, her voice as an author, really pulls you in It s almost like poetry at times, really beautiful descriptions Oasis started and ended with quickly paced, interesting action I found the middle of the book a little slow, but once you push through that, it gets crazy A lot happened at the end Other then that, I can t really find fault with this book and I give it a solid 4.5 5 Really looking forward to a sequel of there is one This book follows similar [...]

  17. I am the kind of person who will take a chance on a book So when I ventured into Easons on Wednesday I thought show me what you re made of Easons And I came across Oasis From the world of constant female protagonists in novels, it takes a rare and talented writer to rate 5 stars and my approval Eil s is one of those writers From the start an excellent production of sheer adventure and even the simplest things are not easy for our protagonist The simplest of acts makes one a criminal and as a cri [...]

  18. How do I give this than 5 stars I want to give it all the stars in the sky I started it last month and had to stop because of my college work, but I said hey, I want to read a bit yesterday and I could not put it down It s incredible It s so real and the issues it tackles are so relevant Quincy is an amazing protagonist I m desperate to know what happens next I haven t felt this way about a book in a while, so I feel like I deserve to curl up in a corner somewhere and do nothing but FEEL ALL T [...]

  19. I loved this book Quincy is extremely badass and just awesome overall Kole is a wonderful human being again why can t fictional characters be real and let s just say Aaron had it coming I was engaged and interested the entire time and it was suspenseful and there were plot twists that had me freaking out and I loved it Everyone should go read it Right now Just go read it

  20. I came back to change review, because I found out there is book 2 So that explains the ending I am looking forward to read book 2, and even though it s for young adults, for me 30 years old mama of two it was still interesting read I can t say I really liked main character, but the story kept me fascinated regardless It s library book, so I had to return it.

  21. I d probably give it 2.5 if I could It was ok but I could see too many similarities to other books for that age group and genre.I don t think it is a great crossover book for YA Adults but I think it will be popular for the YA age group.

  22. To start, I received this novel through giveaways I extremely enjoyed reading Oasis Not only was the novel well written, each page kept you wanting to read the next I cannot wait to read novels written by Ellis.

  23. I really enjoyed where Eilis went with this, especially as I was privileged to read this book in it s baby stages when it was just learning to walk I can confidently say that Eilis Barrett will only get better and better from here.

  24. an enjoyable post apocalyptic read with a few unfortunate flaws i won t give any spoilers but it seemed like some elements of the story just weren t thought through properly still an impressive achievement for a 16 year old, though.

  25. A solid debut from a teen author Barrett had me constantly wondering what was happening next and I was desperately turning the pages, hoping there was when I reached the ending.
