  1. Having read all of the other books in the Murfee series, I thought I would read the prequel, which turned out to be a rather preposterous spy story Murfee, fresh out of law school and just passed the bar exam is variously a US attorney s office secretary, leading a team of cybercrime attorneys, a fledgling spy and a trial defence attorney Ellsworth well known issues with timing occur the epilogue has a seven month period as a witness which then disappears two paragraphs later This book is set 10 [...]

  2. Oh, wow Reading this exceptional legal thriller was like reading early John Grisham during The Firm era I loved this one I absolutely love legal thrillers And I m already in love with Thaddeus Murfee Great job, John Ellsworth Great story I highly recommend reading Thaddeus Murfee Book 1 And I can hardly wait to get started on The Defendants Book 2 of this series Well worth its five stars Original Kindle review.

  3. Good quick read EngagingThis was a fun book Quick and kept me glued to the pages Will be books written by John Ellsworth.

  4. Decent plot, poorly developedIt started out okay but took too many abrupt, vague turns A lot of grammar errors could have easily been remedied with much needed editing That would also have helped, perhaps, with better story development I wanted to like this book but it was kind of a mess, like a draft rushed to publication I would like to read the follow up books but am afraid they will be no better contextually and the grammar errors make reading a chore at times Glad this was free.

  5. I did not realize this novel was a prequel, so it is the first Thaddeus Murfee thriller I ve read I m glad for the background before going on to others in the series I liked Murfee s character development, enjoyed watching him struggle against the situation in which he found himself and finally win back his freedom Unfortunately, as with other Ellsworth novels, errors in grammar and sentence structure detract from his work I wish he would get himself a good editor.

  6. Thaddeus MurfeeLoved this book It kept me reading when I should have been doing other things It was great to see the good guys win I spent many years in the prosecutor s office I ve seen a few rulings that this book reminded me of I ve even seen a few defense attorney s sent to jail for contempt This was an entertaining read for me I will be looking for of this author s books If you enjoy legal stories, I recommend this book.

  7. Best book of legal action I ve read.I was sad when I finished reading the Michael Gresham series This is the start of my love affair with Thaddeus Murfee From the rollicking start to the surprising conclusion I was up all night reading Thank You Mr Ellsworth I m going to start the next book after my nap.

  8. Silly and triteThe book seemed at first to have good potential However, it rapidly fell into the realm of far fetched and ridiculous The writing seemed a bit disjointed Some of the time sequences made no sense The ending just solidified my opinion of ridiculousness It felt as though the author was a 16 year old struggling through his first novel.

  9. Enjoy law You gotta read this.Fast, enjoyable, enlightning I read a lot of stories concerning the law Even though I know it s fiction, it was written well and kept on track I really liked it and am starting the second book now.
